Leveling Load Peaks 

within the electric grid of the Swiss railways network.
With SAP technology, I was the strategic advisor for  a solution detecting load peaks in a rail network together with the customer and a data scientist.
The highest load peaks in the network occur due to the starting of electric trains, especially in Switzerland. The peaks are forecasted, and large consumers, such as switch heaters or air conditioning systems, are temporarily switched off. The solution was pilot-tested successfully in 2018 and received an SAP Award. The goal is to regulate up to 150 megawatts by 2025 by connecting additional consumers. The solution supports the Smart Grid approach with very high savings of electric energy equals even more than a traditional hydropower plant. For more info see this link.

Strategic Planning integrated

that is planned over 50 years using very specific processes and tools. Prior to approval by the federal government,
potential projects for  renovations, expansions, or new constructions are
incorporated into the portfolio planning in SAP. With a connection to SAP IBP,
critical resources such as project managers or budget requirements are
coordinated and transferred into an actionable portfolio. In the SAP
transformation program of infrastructure, I supported this process as the responsible architect and implemented it with SAP Consulting within the SAP standard modules and interfaces. The next step will be the integration to SAP PS for approved projects to define critical material needed up to 6 years before project execution.

Improved Berth Planning

for Vessels at Europe's Largest Automotive Terminal

What is the best berth for the next ship considering the unloading and loading times and the car brands with defined locations in the terminal? 
As an architect, I designed a solution within the SAP team based on SAP Yard Management with the goal of increasing efficiency by up to 20%, as the terminal cannot be expanded further. Here a customer-specific solution in collaboration with the customer, a data scientist, and SAP consulting was modelled and successfully implemented.

Integrated Planning 
for Rolling Stock Maintenance

As part of a major transformation project to switch from R/3 to S/4 with various
cloud solutions, I was involved  as an architect, conceptualized an integrated planning solution from 10-year planning to daily planning. The challenge here was not the necessary master data, which is of very high quality already in SAP, but extensive detailed planning involving many Excel sheets and customer extensions in R/3 in the past.
These not really integrated process needed to be replaced while simultaneously achieving the high planning accuracy of the legacy solution again as an integrated process in SAP,  with adjustments. Here, I designed a solution in collaboration with the
specialist team of the customer, SAP standard, and other architects integrated into S/4 and SAP IBP using SAP BTP. After the specification handover, the project is implemented by an SAP partner.
